WELCOME TO flavorfulrecipesblog

Hi! I’m Amanda Fitzgerald, and Flavorful Recipes Blog is my little corner of the internet where good food and good stories always go together.

Our Story

Amanda’s cooking story begins with loss and, unexpectedly, with healing. When her father passed away during her final year of university in Vancouver, British Columbia, she found herself inheriting a wooden recipe box filled with handwritten cards — his mother’s lifetime of cooking, preserved in fading ink and flour-dusted paper. Amanda had never been particularly interested in cooking before, but those recipes became a way to feel close to the grandfather she barely knew and the father she’d just lost. She spent a year cooking through every card, calling elderly relatives for context, learning techniques that hadn’t been passed down verbally. Those dishes healed something in her. By the time she’d made her way through the entire box, she was a genuinely skilled and deeply motivated cook, and she’d started writing about the experience online. That writing became Flavorful Recipes Blog.

Our Philosophy

Amanda believes recipes are vessels for memory, love, and identity. She approaches every dish with reverence for its origins and excitement about where it can go next. Her blog honors traditional recipes while gently evolving them for modern kitchens.
